What happens when three old friends in crisis fall into an unexpected love triangle? In The Catch, Maya, Henry and Daniel embark upon an emotional journey that forces them to confront unresolved pain, present-day traumas and powerful desires, leading them to question the very meaning of love and fulfillment. The Catch tells a tale of ordinary people seeking the extraordinary – or, if that’s asking too much, some damn peace of mind.

And a happy Thursday to you where ever you might be.

Old Friend Brad Penny has gone on the DL in Japan after one week. Old Friend Brian Falkenborg has saved 3 of the first 4 wins for defending champion Softbank.

San Diego hourly forecast today — 62 degrees and clear all afternoon! Perfect weather for a Dodger win! Of course, any weather is perfect for a win.

Gee I got so excited I talked myself into a 12:30 start time.

about the time I left for the stadium so my daughter and I could get autographs

Thanks, Jon. A 4:00PM start also mean great difficulty for all hitters today. Look for a season low in runs this year in the west.

The whole season is going to be low in runs because of a 4 PM start today?

Happy New Year!
Marcelo .
Im 40, and I am as excited over Dodger opening day as I was back when I was 12 years old. Gotta love Baseball…

I’m 60 and I’m excited but not as much as when I was 12 but when I was 12 we had Koufax, Drysdale, WIlls, Tommy Davis and were coming off a WS sweep of the Yankees. Little did I know the ’62 playoff with the Giants was coming right up.

Looking forward to watching this afternoon on the big screen and Saturday night live from the ballpark. Here’s to hoping Capuano pitching in Petco is a good combination.

Clayton Kershaw’s first 2012 pitch will be 92-mph fastball over right side of the plate (his view), high in the zone.

Dammit, now the Padres will be stealing signs via blog!

Just for something different (opposite!!) low and left 93mph Ball. If I get it wrong, I’ll just say it’s hard for me to see the pitch all the way here in Australia!
Hello everyone to another exciting season, win, lose or draw

All the pictures above of field grass just reminded me of the expression “the grass is always greener,” which is the attitude a lot of sports fans I know have about their team. Well, this Dodger team as it stands may not be perfect, but there’s a lot to cheer for and look forward to. Let’s play ball!

Does any one know of a way i can watch dodger games on the computer for free? I live in Indiana and it is hard to watch dodger games. Any thing would be helpful if I can watch the game for free
Anonymous
For about $110 for the season you can watch all the games. I don’t know of any way to watch them for free but I would sure like that.

MLB.TV is great but costs the $110 and you can see all Dodger games except when they play in your home sports network market (or what is considered your local market team)

From ESPN LA
LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Dodgers open the season on the road in San Diego, but the team is inviting its fans to watch Thursday’s game for free at Dodger Stadium.
In a rare move, the team is throwing open the gates to the stadium for viewing of the game in San Diego. Parking is free, while concessions will cost $4 or less and merchandise is being discounted by 15 percent. Former Dodger great Ron Cey will sign autographs.

You are branching out a bit Jon! That is a nice “photo essay”
Also, what underdog said about greener grass

Opening Day of 1968 had 10 games and 61 total runs.
On Opening Day of 1930, the Phillies, who would finish the season with a TEAM ERA of 6.71, won 1-0.

And Jack Hannahan hits a home run in North America. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief.

Still no home runs hit in the National League. I’m guessing that the Marlins-Reds game is the most likely candidate for one.
A home run in the Dodgers-Padres game would be more of a surprise going by San Diego’s weather, ballpark size, and the start time of the game.
underdog
Yeah all that, plus the teams playing and the pitchers pitching, and a score higher than around 2-1 will be a surprise. So naturally the final will be 8-6.

Meanwhile, the Isotopes pitching will probably be bad this year, but I bet they mash, score a lot of runs. Here’s their opening day lineup:
Albuquerque Isotopes @AbqTopes: Opening Day lineup: Angle-8, Castellanos-4, Sands-7, Baisley-3, Van Slyke-9, Oeltjen-DH, Fields-5, Federowicz-2, Cruz-6, Parisi-1#gotopes

Patiently waiting for the opening day lineup to be posted…
