Vin Scully says bye to the Mile High

Dodgers at Rockies, 1:10 p.m.

The Dodgers announced today that Vin Scully won’t be making road trips to Colorado this year. That means he’ll do Dodger home games plus games in San Francisco, San Diego, Arizona and Oakland.

Scully makes his 2012 debut tonight with the Dodgers’ second game of the day, against the Giants, followed by a day game Sunday against the Angels.

I wonder if it’s harder for a man in his 80s to make trips to a city at altitude. I would assume it would be. And the flights to Denver seem like they should be shorter than they actually are.

And their airport seems to be in a different timezone.  Of course it could probably be closer to downtown Denver than LAX is to our civic center.

    •  I think these certainly might be factors.

Something has happened in the match between Tottenham and Bolton.  It looks like a player collapsed.   Both teams have abandoned the pitch.

Patrice Muamba of Bolton collapsed on the field. He might have had a heart attack. It is rather grim.

Muamba had to be given CPR on the field.

Seeing those pictures and the video of Broxton pitching upclose…  I always knew he was a big boy with Paul Bunyan-like features but his true stature appears to overgrow even that description.

I realize that it’s also spring training for the broadcast crew, also, but the rockies broadcast crew cut to one of those “hot chick in a tight shirt interviews some player spouting standard cliches” that seemed to go on forever, and totally stepped on a home run.

it seems like ROOT generally spends more time in the stands talking to spectators than they reasonably should during the regular season as well.

    sorry.  pet peeve.
