Nice photo, I reminds me of a family type snapshot of a child holding up Christmas presents for the camera

    • Anonymous

Let’s hope he has plenty more such photos this year!

      • Anonymous

Like first HR, first hitting for the cycle – stuff like that!

        • Anonymous

Hit that gets into playoffs, wins the Series . . . yeah, maybe not this year. :(

  2. Anonymous

And for the first three innings, The Vin will do a simulpuig.

  3. Anonymous

I notice ‘Dre is missing from the lineup!
    ….
I’ve said it for a number of seasons now…. He needs to go, for the sake of team chemistry….
    ….
If you don’t believe me, just ask TJ Simers! :-)
    .
“I’ve been writing it for years: Ethier is the most selfish athlete in town and counterproductive to a team’s achieving success.”

    – TJ Simers.

    • The day I listen to TJ Simers will be the same day I admit myself to a mental institution.

    • KT

      Don’t care about TJ’s opinion…never have…think he’s a terrible writer

another injury more serious than first thought:
“Capuano was unable to make his scheduled start on Monday and, after an
MRI revealed a lat strain in his left shoulder, the Dodgers elected to
place Capuano on the DL. He suffered the injury during his start on
Wednesday in Anaheim, and originally thought the strain was in his
    triceps.”

The Dominican Summer League Dodgers played their 3rd game today. They were shut-out in the first 2 on first 2 hits and then 1; but today they won 13-4. Stars from the box-score were starting pitcher Nelson Sandoval a 19yo first year player from Venezuela giving up 1 hit and 2 walks in 4 innings with 7 K’s and RF Micheal Medina not quite 17 with 3 hits, 2 of them triples, 3 runs scored, 2 RBI, and a walk.

    • Anonymous

No relation to Gnatsoval, I would hope.

  7. Anonymous

If the Red Sox score in the bottom of the 8th, they will have scored in every half-inning of their game. But they’re up 17-3, so I don’t think there will be a bottom of the 9th. No AL team has scored in all nine half-innings, but a few NL teams have done it, most recently the Rockies at Wrigley Field around the turn of the century.

  8. KT

    Nice catch SVS

  9. Anonymous

Is the leadoff HR revenge from being doubled off to end the game yesterday

  10. KT

Time to get that run back…Let’s go Puig

  11. Pfui. No Prime Ticket, No MLB.TV, no radio . . . guess I’ll cook dinner instead.

    • KT

      no mlb.com radio?

      • No. Maybe I should subscribe.

        • KT

19.95 a year…well worth it…I have mlb extra innings and still bought the subscription so I don’t have to listen to the other teams homers

          • Anonymous

DEFINITELY worth it . . . even as bad as this team is, it’s great to hear Vinny! Plus you can listen to any other game as well . . . I was switching around the final game of the season –the year before last, I believe — when the BoSox and Braves died at the end to allow the Cards and Rays (I believe) get into postseason.

          • Anonymous

Do they sync? I always wanted to try to sync terrestrial radio with my telecasts but just too much trouble.

          • KT

no the majority of the time (99%) radio is ahead which gives you a chance to be typing then look up to see the action

  12. KT

    PUIG!!

  13. KT

    Good job Mellis

  14. Uh huh. Man on 2nd, no one out, can’t score. Same old Dodgers, Puig or no.

    • I was going to say welcome to the 2013 Dodgers Yasiel, where a lead off double doesn’t mean much.

      • I can only imagine how frustrated Mattingly and the players are, given how frustrated I am at this futility.

  15. Oh Lilly, back to serving up BP again…

  16. Anonymous

Gotta score AT LEAST 4 . . . not done often by this team.

  17. KT

At least you guys don’t have to watch the SD feed where they keep replaying the HR’s

  18. Anonymous

I didn’t hear that frustrating bottom of the 1st but based on Gameday, why didn’t Puig score on Agon’s grounder to the 2B?

    • KT

very hard hit right at the 2nd baseman…probably would have been out

      • Anonymous

Thanks. At least it was to the right side.

  19. Anonymous

Lilly pulling a Lilly tonight, not sure there’s enough offense to salvage this one.

    • Anonymous

If it’s not one facet of their game, it’s another.
The only “good” news of the day — besides Hanley’s return, which was imminent — is the apparent verification that Braun’s MVP award is tainted.

  20. KT

    FED!!!!!

  21. Anonymous

Once again you guys deliver the news before I hear it on MLB audio.
I don’t mind at all when it’s good news like this!

    • Oops, I’ll keep that in mind.

      • Anonymous

        Don’t worry . . . if it’s bad news, I’m prepared.
And sometimes I hear it on the radio — but it’s not as clean as this — and sometimes the stream isn’t that far behind.
        But thanks for the thought!

  22. KT

    Puig Time

  23. A little over agressive from the young Cuban there… he’s not going to throw out everybody.

    • Anonymous

Mo said Lilly should’ve been backing up 3rd — and that would’ve prevented the run.
If so, it’s amazing how some of them can be so on top of things and others apparently with their head not in the game.

      • True. Lilly is having a rough night all around it seems. Maybe he didn’t expect Puig to throw.

        • Anonymous

Okay, SOME slack for that, not much for his pitching.

      • Anonymous

Vin said Lilly was yelling for the ball to be cut off

  24. Anonymous

I thought Blanks didn’t like football!

  25. Anonymous

    . . . all with 2 outs . . . and starting with ANOTHER walk.
Now the Blue’s gotta score AT LEAST 6 . . . done even more infrequently than 4.

  26. Anonymous

Yep, definitely not enough offense to overcome his hole. Time to watch the Kings game.

  27. Anonymous

Remember when we used to look forward to playing the Padres? I think that’s how everyone else feels about playing this year’s Dodgers.

    • Anonymous

Never like playing the Padres. Always felt that we should win, so no thrill from that, but devastated when we lost.

  28. Anonymous

Guggenheim doesn’t want the DS deal details made public. You and I would want to know. Certainly the NFL is going to want to know. So what gives? (Shaikin article just posted on LAT, don’t know if I can post the link) http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/dodgers/la-sp-0605-dodgers-mccourt-deal-20130605,0,3147686.story

    • Anonymous

When will McCourt stop haunting this team?

      • Anonymous

unfortunately he owns half of the area surrounding DS, as well as getting that rent check for the parking lots, so that answer is too unpalatable to print.

  29. KT

    Nice Luis…Come on Puig

  30. Anonymous

Now THAT is a purty swing!

  31. Anonymous

    Wow is right!
Audio is WAY behind, but your comments AND Gameday indicate Puig’s first HR!

Let’s hope Puig’s 1st HR comes in another victory.

    • KT

^_^…I don’t like the 1 up system…you don’t know who you are getting them from so I will now resort to my new like comment system

      • Anonymous

I think it was deemed safer to have the “likes” anonymized, reduces stalking, maybe Jon can verify

Not that I like it, but..

        • Anonymous

In fact, now that I reflect on it, most of the places I hang out in that feature thumbs up/down have their authorship anonymized. Maybe it’s just easier not to get worked up about who’s thumbing you down, who knows?

          • Anonymous

I can only recall one thumbs down on DT. Someone (not me) gave it to WBB.

          • Anonymous

I try to encourage folks here from time to time, but never bother with the thumbs down, life’s too short.

          • Anonymous

don’t agree, but I didn’t give you one.

  35. Anonymous

It was actually worth listening to Steiner’s call on the HR.
But I can’t wait to see the video clip with Vin’s call.

    • Anonymous

So Steiner called it an infield fly?

      • Anonymous

No, he was actually excited . . . this time, legitimately so.

  36. I had just switched over after the Kings won to catch that home run, what a blast. The Cuban Missile indeed.

  37. Anonymous

I wonder what Ethier is thinking, watching Puig’s performance.
We have to assume Matt will return to form once he’s healthy . . . and Crawford has earned his keep.
But with Puig and SVS doing this well, hopefully someone can be shopped. Of course, we once thought there were too many starting pitchers on the team.

  38. KT

    PUIG!!!!!

  39. KT

    Agon!!

  40. What’s this new thing with the wiper across the visor? Are we done with the “I see you” thing?

  41. KT

Agon almost made it to second before Ellis got to third

    HanRAM!

  42. Ellis was moving quite slow around the bases on Agon’s hit. Thankfully he was driven in anyways.

  43. Hanley’s looking good. I’m feeling — knock on something — optimistic.

  44. Wait, why did Don pull Uribe and put Cruz in?

  45. Uh-oh, Belli doesn’t have the glasses on. Where’s the ball gonna go?

  46. Anonymous

Who did Puig tell he was going to hit a home run for? Missed the name.

    ;-) BAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  51. KT

    CRUZ!!

  52. Luis Cruz is bustin’ out!

  53. KT

    PUIG!!!!!

  54. You gotta be kidding me!

  55. Did Vin just say “Viva Puig?”

  56. Anonymous

    Wow, Puig bringing it tonight.

  57. Anonymous

    WOW!

  58. Anonymous

I’ve seen it, but i don’t believe it!!

  59. Anonymous

Even Vin sounds buffaloed! What a player!

  60. This is really just insane.

  61. Can’t they just bean him already? You can’t let THAT guy hit a home run against you.

  62. Anonymous

If the bullpen blows this game it will be awful.

  63. KT

Time to score some more…I want to break the 10 run barrier

    • Anonymous

Hey KT – your posting reminds me of something kinda funny….
      ….
So, I’m doing a filling the other day and my patient says that he went to the Angels game the night before and that they won big. My assistant asks, “Did you get tacos?” – as I guess they have some deal where you get tacos if the Halo score double digits or something.
      ….
I said, “Kinda like the Lakers? – where they chant ‘We want tacos! We want tacos! ?”

“Each time I hear the crowd chanting, it makes me wish that Weinerschnitzel would give that same deal…. wonder what THAT chant would sound like…”
      :-)

Now, as Vinny says, “Let’s get back to this one”

      • Anonymous

I noticed the taco deal when we played the Angels. I think it was 8 runs which surprised me, might even have been 7.

  64. Anonymous

    Fun game to watch !!!!!!!!!!!!
    ….

Commenting on what Vin was saying about that NYG player from the 40’s and 50’s. I used to enjoy the spring training period far more when players I never heard of came out of seemingly nowhere to have great spring trainings and ever make the team. It’s far more usual with all the info available now.
At dodgers.com in the 90’s there was a gentleman who posted long detailed posts from spring training using the name spendodger. He was Phil but I can’t remember his last name. He was a very knowledgeable judge of talent. I was very sad when I learned he had died during a spring training iirc.

  67. So, you know, call me the wet blanket or whatever, but isn’t it about time for one of our willy veterans to tell The Puiginator that he shouldn’t take a curtain call every single time? I’ve seen three so far.

    • Anonymous

      you’re a soaking wet blanket

    • Anonymous

Who cares, nice to see guys play like they enjoy the game…

  68. KT

Looks like League again in the 9th. Can we please get an insurance Puig?

  71. And now every Dodger fan inches just a little closer to the edge of their seat.

  72. Anonymous

Are you ready, strap yourselves in ladies and gentleman

  73. Well at least if League blows the save we get to see Puig again…

  74. Anonymous

Mattingly is really rolling the dice again. I hope he is right.

    Okay League 1-2-3 inning

  76. KT

It’s gotta be asked, and Vinny probably covered it….

Sweet sweet karma getting Carlos Quentin the douchebag right there, I love it.

    • Anonymous

Not quite karma enough, if you get my drift, but I’ll take it.

  87. Nice game by Hanley as well… Ahhhh.

  88. Kings win. Puigs win. Good night for LA.

  89. KT

#Dodgers are undefeated in the Yasiel Puig era.

  90. Anonymous

I have always wanted to see more of my fellow Cubans in the MLB. Now to have one, with the energy and talent of Puig on my favorite team, is great to watch! I might have to bring my Cuban flag down to Dodger Stadium and I hope the Cuban community in L.A. comes out to support the Blue Crew!

    • Anonymous

And hearing Scully say, “Que Viva Cuba,” just puts it over the top for me.. ;) But I have to correct Vinny, Puig is not from Habana,

  91. Anonymous

Which is more surprising — Puig got 2 HRs or League gets the save with a 1,2, 3 inning?
Maybe all of the above is the new norm!

    • Anonymous

I just like the energy Puig brings… If he can keep up a realistic pace and Kemp returns to 2/3 of himself, there could be some good times in L.A.

      The bullpen still worries me.

      • Anonymous

        Agree with all.
How great that Puig got his start at home . . . and on this longest homestand of the season.

        • Anonymous

Those were impressive homeruns at Dodger Stadium.

  92. Anonymous

You all seem to be much more knowledgeable about the game of baseball than me, so I ask this. If Puig keeps this up at a reasonable pace, .300, 5 hr, not many Ks, etc… What do the Dodgers do? Can they even fathom sending him down? What do they realistically do with Either?

    • foul tip

With Dodger management you never really know, but a commenter here put the scenario pretty well after his first game when he said Puig had put a “for sale” sign around Ethier’s neck.

The decision would be tougher if Ethier were producing at all, but he’s not.

But Puig would have to keep it up and make it impossible to take him out of the lineup.
But even then, as much as salary talks, the team could send Van Slyke down and keep Ethier, or make some other less than bright move. It has shown repeatedly is capable of those moves.

Puig will play, period, if he keeps up anything like his start. Management may be kind of dumb sometimes, but it’s not blind.
