What happens when three old friends in crisis fall into an unexpected love triangle? In The Catch, Maya, Henry and Daniel embark upon an emotional journey that forces them to confront unresolved pain, present-day traumas and powerful desires, leading them to question the very meaning of love and fulfillment. The Catch tells a tale of ordinary people seeking the extraordinary – or, if that’s asking too much, some damn peace of mind.

Let’s go for number 12! Seems like a lot of contending teams are either winning dramatically (see Boston, Cleveland), on long winning streaks (Cleveland), winning consistently (Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh) or all three (Los Angeles).
I say this because a lot of fans of teams could be using the destiny word a fair bit right now.

KT
rookie ump move…Is he a rookie????
Anonymous
Did he have a short fuse?
KT
Ball was outside and brought into the zone by the catcher…Mellis was on his way to 1st when the ump called him…he tosses and the key word was tossed his bat…MEllis looked back at him and said (after reading lips) “that’s so bad”…the ump rung him up…Mattingly got wrung up just as fast for no obvious reason
Anonymous
Very, but the strike three call was correct.
Anonymous
Not really a rookie as he’d done about 200 games coming into this season, but 2013 is his first year as a full time ML umpire.
KT
thanks

I wonder if that is the end of Hanley’s rest or will they just bring Schumaker in?

KT
ball was hit on a hump to CF and Ryu got a terrible jump, but Dejesus over ran the ball and Ryu stutter stepped around third then headed home and barely beat the throw standing up

Sounded like Keystone Kops . . . but NOT starring the Dodgers this time. I hope Ryu’s adventures on the basepaths don’t hurt him on the mound. What’ll definitely help is more runs!
KT
Puig was mad for a second

I thought they may have considered IBBB him
KT
0-2 hit on the upper left arm…He stared at the pitcher and made a half step towards him and then immediately calmed himself

Have been out of the loop – can someone explain details behind Punto caught stealing at home and Mattingly/Ellis ejections?
KT
1) puig took off for 2nd stopped 3/4 of the way there…barney tried for puig then threw behind punto to 3rd as punto broke home…punto out by 2-3 feet
2) Ball was outside and brought into the zone by the catcher…Mellis was on his way to 1st when the ump called him…he tosses and the key word was tossed his bat…MEllis looked back at him and said (after reading lips) “that’s so bad”…the ump rung him up…Mattingly got wrung up just as fast for no obvious reason
3) Mattingly touched the ump but it looked like the ump initiated contact
KT
just showed the replay of mattingly and ump contact…initiated by the ump
Jon Weisman
Thanks, appreciate it.
KT
That’s what I’m here for…just ask John_from_Aus
KT
Puig!
KT
Oh Puig was robbed for the 2nd time by a third base ump on an outfield assist…Uribe tagged lake on the helmet and his foot was not on the bag…clear as day on my 70″ sharp tv

Yasiel Puig hitting .417/.533/.750 in past 10 games (45 plate appearances, 1.283 OPS, 3 HR, 7 BB). Guess he’s not done yet.

What made it worse for me is the delayed information. Vegas carries the broadcasts, but not all of them. Instead of the Dodgers, they have “shopping radio” right now. MLB Audio is way behind, so I had to watch Gameday . .. how sweet to see the blue “ball in play, out(s),” then the description of a DP.
KT
I spent years overseas with only Gameday…I know the feeling
Anonymous
before the internet took off, I had to wait for results in the newspapers and they would occasionally list the standings. Only the world series on TV
Linkmeister
When I was on Kwajalein in 1975 all we had was videotape. We got one game from that famous World Series between the Reds and the Red Sox. Fortunately, it was Game Six with Fisk willing his home run ball fair in the bottom of the 12th.
KT
My brother-in-law’s folks lived on Kwajalein for many years
Linkmeister
A little under three years for me. I was a DoD contract employee from age 24-27 out there.
Anonymous
Never made it there, but did do a pit stop on Johnston Island for a day onboard a sailboat in 1976.
Anonymous
I am yet to figure out how 1400 gets more advertising revenue out of selling coupons that it does from carrying the Dodgers. Give me back the days of KDWN, oh how I miss those.
KT
I remember traveling across the country as a young kid and switching the am radio in the car as we went out of range just to find another station carrying the Dodgers game
Anonymous
Me too. Seemed a lot more of them carried the Dodgers too.
KT
Used to get as far as the mississippi
Linkmeister
It is really frustrating that not one radio station in this entire state will pony up the fees and sell the ads for the Dodgers games. We get Giants games on some Sundays, but baseball on the radio is usually whatever ESPN Radio feels like putting on.
Anonymous
I was thinking the same thing, about the coupons. Yes, I remember the KDWN days as well . . . falling to sleep with the game over the radio under my pillow! (Plus 1400’s weak signal.) . . . But, it HAS been worse . . . the year + without any radio coverage in LV . . . my phone’s not smart enough to pick up the broadcast, so being able to listen to it at all in the car is great . . . especially the way this year has turned out . . . or any Vinny-broadcast inning of any year!
Linkmeister
Here’s a list of the Dodgers Radio Network stations: http://losangeles.dodgers.mlb.com/la/schedule/radio_network.jsp
Very few of them are outside California. As noted below, Vegas, one in New Mexico, one in Texas and one in Oregon. That’s it.
Anonymous
there’s also 3 under partial schedule that are long term Dodger radio stations; one in Illinois, one in Indiana and one in the Virgin Islands.
Years ago I used to listen to two of these stations on the computer, the one in Bishop, CA and the V.I. one. I doubt that is possible today as they likely do not stream the games.
Anonymous
In the 1960s, in Tacoma, I used to be able to hear the Dodgers on KFI after dark.
KT
yea I remember getting KFI in New Mexico clearly and intermittently in Texas
Anonymous
Hope they can get 2 innings out of Belli today. Really hate to see Jansen again with a 4 run lead.

Uh oh, Carlos Marmol is the last guy I’d want trying to protect a four run lead in the 9th.

“J Borbon out at third on runner’s fielder’s choice.” lol wut?
Jon Weisman
Yeah, what exactly did Borbon do?
KT
Bounced the ball to AJ and AJ blocked the ball and Boubon tried to advance to third and was out by4-5 feet

What a team! Was listening at work and got a bad feeling after the top ‘o the third when the Dodgers had 2 doubles and 4 walks and only scored 2. What was I thinking? – love how this team continually thwarts my worries.
Anonymous
I can feel for the Cubs fans even more than usual — 14 hits and only 2 runs is almost as bad as the Dodgers’ nadir of futility that I recall: 11 hits for 1 run. Still, I’m glad it’s the Cubs fans feeling pain tonight!
Anonymous
Not to mention their failed closer coming in to nail down the victory against them.
Anonymous
Besides the victory and the bench stepping up, the Bullpen was there again, shutting down the opposition. I’m even learning (almost) not to cringe when League is mentioned . . . could he be the Uribear of the 2nd half?

hope Boston can repeat their heroics in the bottom of the 9th today
Jon Weisman
Red Sox have two on, one out, down 7-6 in ninth.
Jon Weisman
but Boston falls short.
KT
No one is helping us out except the Roxs who beat the Bucs for us and the cards who beat the reds so now we are tie with the reds 5.5 behind the bucs with the cards and barves .5 back…The race is getting tighter

Anybody know the latest on the Cuban shortstop Guerrero
Anonymous
By Steve Adams [August 3 at 10:35pm CST]
August 3: The Twins are among the clubs interested in Guerrero, reports Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN (via Twitter). “We like him,” said Twins VP Mike Radcliff. “We’re still watching him.” Wolfson names the Dodgers as the continuing favorites to land Guerrero.
Guerrero reportedly possesses good power but profiles more as a second baseman at the big league level, according to Baseball America (subscription required).
Anonymous
Thanks. He could be st Starting 2b next year.

Woke up here in Chicago thinking that I have not seen the Cubs play the Dodger since Sept 9, 1965, so I have never seen a Cubbie actually get on base.
Anonymous
You know you’re going good when both League AND Marmol each pitch an inning and your team wins.
League’s ERA now below 5 btw – seems he’s legitimately turned it around.
Anonymous
“Capuano’s ERA in nine outings with Federowicz catching is 3.06. In six with Ellis catching, it’s 8.38.”
