If Zack Greinke avoids four hitless at-bats in his final start of the season, he’ll finish with an on-base percentage of more than .400. And if he avoids an 0-for-8, he’ll finish with a batting average above .300.

Thought we weren’t going to get a new thread:

scooplew
Jon: I don’t understand the chart. Can you enlighten me? Thanks.
ASW1
in both 2002 and 2013, 11 teams had at least 90 wins
ASW1
If that helps
scooplew
Got it. I had miscounted. Thank you.
KT
Los Angeles Dodgers @Dodgers47s
Matt Kemp was removed from the lineup prior to the game for precautionary reasons with left ankle soreness. #Dodgers
ASW1
That’s a new one.
Bob_Hendley
Clay, Greinke and Ryu are three of top seven NL ERA.
TAFKA_Gagne55
And the top three among playoff teams :)
Bob_Hendley
Juan needs to take care of Buss.
ASW1
No surprise with 1st base open Nicasio didn’t want to walk the #8 hitter to get to the pitcher : Greinke!
KT
Good communication and backup by SVS
RBI
Anyone else going tomorrow in order to appreciate and be appreciated?
btimmer
Not unless they promise me a Hobie Cat.
RBI
Nice hit, Uribear!
ASW1
missed it – how did the Rocks score?
KT
double then hit to LF where SVS dived and missed
ASW1
Ah – thanks
KT
3 outs in Atl…with a cards win or Barves loss tomorrow we travel to Atl for game 1 Oct 3rd
KT
fantastic play by rollins
John_from_Aus
Nice play by Adrian with Zac covering
ASW1
Time to score some runs!
btimmer
California Highway 161 runs along the Oregon border. http://www.aaroads.com/california/ca-161.html
ASW1
Pretty road – see views like that all the time while hunting, fishing and camping out in the great state of California.
ASW1
Let’s go Gonzo!!!
ASW1
Good eye, Adrian – now let’s do some damage, Uribe.
Linkmeister
Rats.
Linkmeister
Double rats.
btimmer
Braves coach Terry Pendleton grabbed Chris Johnson in the dugout tonight and shoved him. Pendleton was ticked off because Johnson threw his helmet in the dugout and hit Pendleton.
Brian McCann was unavailable for comment.
ASW1
I guess I’m in the minority here, but SVS inspires zero confidence in me when he comes to the plate – I really don’t think he warrants consideration on the postseason roster.
scooplew
Then we are in the minority together.
Jack Dawkins
I think when you look at the size of him you see Adam Dunn in the Cincy years. Unfortunately you get more like Adam Dunn 2011.
DS1981
Well, why would a career AAA player inspire confidence?
RBI
I agree. I would even prefer Dee.
Bob_Hendley
You may be both expecting too much and not realizing what he has given us. SVS as a 5th and PH has put up pretty good numbers with an OPS+ of 127 in 146 PA and hits righties as well as he hits lefties. In Sept, despite having a .188 babip he has managed an OPS+ of 121. I think we want this guy on the playoff roster.
RBI
And again with the Uribe glove.
Jack Dawkins
Let’s go gumby!
ASW1
Jekyll and Hyde offense.
KT
Nice inning Paco
RBI
Sharpest he’s looked in a while.
ASW1
Now that is inspiring for the postseason.
Linkmeister
Rats again.
KT
Good at bat Juanito
RBI
Come on Van Slyke. Prove us wrong!
DS1981
Honest question, what is Van Slyke actually good at? I mean, Gordon has speed at least.
scooplew
He reminds me of Billy Ashley, but not as good.
RBI
Frustrating game.
WinnipegDave
I agree. That’s the type of game that concerns me the most – a low scoring loss. Great pitching but ultimately no key hit or two.
WBBsAs
In the end, a meaningless game except that nobody got hurt (to the best of my knowledge).
RBI
Good pitching. Absent offense.
scooplew
Distressing penultimate game of the regular season, particularly as none of our “four” starting outfielders started. We need to win tomorrow to get the bad taste erased.
RBI
I guess it would have been worse if we had lost with the A team outfield playing…
scooplew
Point well taken, but I think we would have done better — at least one run better — had at least a couple of the Big Four been in the starting lineup.
Spence
Only way Dodgers get a home playoff series is if they were to meet the Reds in the NLCS. Anything else, and its on the road.
Bob_Hendley
Everybody all over SVS. I didn’t see the game, but I suppose he mucked up. You may be both expecting too much and not realizing what he has given us. SVS as a 5th and PH has put up pretty good numbers with an OPS+ of 125 in 150 PA and hits righties as well as he hits lefties. In Sept, despite having a .176 babip he has managed an OPS+ of 103. I think we want this guy on the playoff roster.
btimmer
Forget the 3-way tie possibility in the AL. I’m looking forward to these results: NY beats MIL, PHI beats ATL, COL beats LA. That would mean FIVE teams in the NL would finish 74-88.
btimmer
If the Yankees and Orioles win and the Royals lose, there will be three AL teams that finish 85-77.
RBI
Finally watched “42”last night. Proud to be a Dodger fan this morning.
scooplew
Interesting game going on in Miami.
ASW1
Tigers get no-hit on a walk-off wild pitch – needless to say, never seen that before.
KT
WP walk off…no hitter
Bumsrap
Pitcher sympathy?
KT
don’t get your reference
Bumsrap
Bottom of the 9th in a meaningless game and all Miami needs to do for its pitcher to get a no hitter is to score a run so the opposing pitcher throws several sliders low and away and in the dirt that have good chances to get past the catcher….
ASW1
Guess we’ll see how much momentum counts for the Tigers – going into the playoffs having been swept by the Marlins – and being no-hit in the last game of the regular season, no less.
