Dodger Stadium tours offer insider’s view

LOS ANGELES DODGERS V ST. LOUIS CARDINALS

By Jon Weisman

With the barnstormin’ Dodgers away from their fair home until July 29, this is a perfect time to take one of the newly improved Dodger Stadium behind-the-scene tours.

Or, if you can hold out, you can sign up for one of the new pregame tours at Chavez Ravine.

Running upwards of 90 minutes, the tours take advantage of the recent stadium renovations while also enjoying some new elements of their own.

Tours typically begin at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., but as a new offering in 2014, there is also a pregame tour beginning three hours prior to first pitch on most game days. Tours are scheduled daily throughout the year, except on certain holidays.

Each tour begins at the Top of the Park store and takes a round trip from there. They include …

  • a viewing of a newly produced historical highlight reel
  • a walk through the Vin Scully Press Box
  • a visit to the exclusive Lexus Dugout Club, featuring the team’s World Series trophies, Most Valuable Player, Cy Young and Rookie of the Year Awards
  • a look inside the historic visitor’s clubhouse
  • early access to the Field Level to view batting practice (pregame tour only)
  • visits to the Dodger dugout and field, gameday operations permitting
  • historical anecdotes about Dodger Stadium and Dodger history.

A full schedule of stadium tours is available online at Dodgers.com/tours, where fans can also purchase tickets, costing $20 for adults and $15 for children (14 and under), seniors (55+) and military personnel. Children ages 3 and under do not require tickets.

Private tours with special pricing for groups of 20 or more are also available and are perfect for baseball fans of all ages, from school field trips to corporate outings and convention groups. Group tours can be arranged by calling (323) 224-1507 or emailing tours@ladodgers.com.  For more information, visit www.dodgers.com/tours.

  1. Do Season ticket holders get a discount? I might take someone there.
