Playing amid challenging weather conditions, the Jr. Dodgers RBI team beat worthy opponents from Texas, Maryland and the Dominican Republic before losing to a strong Miami team in the semifinals of the MLB RBI World Series in Arlington, Texas.
In the first year of a joint sponsorship with Bank of America, the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation’s Jr. Dodgers RBI team had earned its way to the MLB RBI World Series by winning the Western Regional tournament held at Dodger Stadium.
Although the team fell short of its ultimate goal, it was an experience the players will not forget. When they weren’t competing on the field, they met MLB commissioner Bud Selig, were involved in round-table discussions with Texas Rangers alumni, participated in a community service day, toured both the Rangers and Cowboys stadiums and participated in a workout day for MLB scouts.
“This is a wonderful group of young men who have bright futures ahead of them,” Dodgers RBI coach Erikk Aldridge said.
The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation agrees. Our office has worked closely with the coaches, players and families this season, and we have been inspired by their dedication and hard work.
