In the crowning individual recgonition of a stupendous season, Clayton Kershaw has become the 11th Dodger to win the National League Most Valuable Player award and the first NL pitcher to do so since Bob Gibson in 1968.
Kershaw had 18 first place votes and 355 points overall, topping Miami’s Giancarlo Stanton (eight, 298) and Pittsburgh’s Andrew McCutchen (four, 271).
Finishing seventh in the balloting was Adrian Gonzalez, while Yasiel Puig and Dee Gordon also received top-10 votes.
What was your favorite part of Kershaw’s season?
- June 18 no-hitter with no walks and 15 strikeouts
- 41-inning scoreless streak
- Behind-the-back fielding, tripling in the tying run and pitching eight innings in NL West clincher

My favorite Kershaw moment was watching his masterpiece no-hitter at Dodger Stadium.

Watching his masterpiece no-hitter at Dodger Stadium. Watching him help himself by getting on base. Watching his routine during batting practice.
Congratulations Kershaw!!!

MLB listed him as the third Dodger pitcher to win the MVP. Guess they didn’t go back far enough. Congrats to kid K. An MVP Dodger pitcher, first one in my lifetime.

So it looks like this Kershaw fella is for real? Who would of thunk it???

Gee that’s great for Clayton. But until he can win in the postseason, and get that World Series ring, it doesn’t mean all that much. I bet he would trade these two awards to have a ring. His peer, Madison Bumgarner, age 25, has 3 World Series rings. Wow, now that is amazing, and that hard for me to say since I despise the Giants. When Clayton can help get his team to the ultimate reward, a championship for Dodger Nation, then he will be truly one of the greats,

I agree, what’s funny is Bumgarner has only been average at best in the postseason as far as the NLDS and NLCS but it’s the World Series where he has become the greatest postseason pitcher in the last 40 years.

Congrats Clayton!!! Very impressive season and an impressive young man. Looking forward to more great things from you! Go Dodgers!

The only thing that stood in the way was those who felt that the MVP had to be a position player. For a while there I had my doubts.
But it was fully deserved as the Dodgers would’ve truly had their troubles trying to make the postseason without Clayton.

Besides all of the already-mentioned standout moments from this season, I will remember Clayton’s leadership skills as the most crucial part of this season for the Dodgers. When they fell to 9 games behind SF early on, this team could have easily folded. Fans were worried.
I have nothing concert to base this on, but I saw him as one of the players who started the clubhouse dance after HT’s, which led to the bubble machine, and the rest is history. He kept guys loose; I recall that video that got out of he and Kenley Jensen mocking each other’s deliveries. Little things like that make all the difference on a club so high in talent.
And then, his 20-1 record after June 2nd? Really just no words to describe that feat and it’s importance to the success of this team in this historic year. This was a special team, due largely to Clayton and his effect on team chemistry.

HR’s, not HT’s.
