Dodger Thoughts

Jon Weisman's outlet for dealing psychologically with the Los Angeles Dodgers, baseball and life

Video: Vin Scully guests on Letterman, 1990

I wonder if David Letterman thought he’d retire before Vin Scully when they met up for this 1990 interview.

Pace of play is part of the conversation, and — go figure — so is the Grateful Dead.

“2 minutes after every third out on network broadcasts.”–Vin Scully in 1990.

The new pace of play clock is 2:25 for local broadcasts; 2:45 for national network broadcasts. This is not rocket science. The length of the game is getting longer because of commercials.

I wonder if David jinxed the Dodgers that night. Right after that interview it was all downhill for the Dodgers. We still haven’t won a World Series or even play in one.

  3. The stolen base (or at least the threat of it) has lengthened the game…interesting.

  4. Thanks for posting this clip. It was a joy to see and hear.
