Infielder-outfielder Zach Walters and outfielder James Ramsey have been acquired by the Dodgers from the Indians in exchange for cash considerations.
Walters and Ramsey were designated for assignment by Cleveland before Opening Day. They will join the Dodger 40-man roster while being optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City, with Andre Ethier and Josh Ravin being shifted to the 60-day disabled list.
The pickups give the Dodgers some position-player depth. With Carl Crawford going on the disabled list Saturday, every position player on the Dodger 40-man roster was either active or on the DL. That includes Scott Van Slyke, who is on the active roster but suffering from back issues of his own.
The 26-year-old Walters has played second base, shortstop, third base, left field and right field in his 82-game MLB career, during which he has had a .233 on-base percentage and .394 slugging percentage. He hit 10 homers in 127 big-league at-bats in 2014. In Triple-A last year, Walters had a .310 OBP and slugged .416.
Ramsey, who is two months younger than Walters, had a .327 on-base percentage and .382 slugging percentage with Triple-A Columbus in 2015, hitting 12 homers. A 2012 first-round draft pick by the Cardinals, Ramsey made one error in 976 outfield innings last year, playing in all three spots.

The Dodgers need to talk to the Texas Rangers about acquiring JUstin Ruggiano and dump Scott Van Slyke
