Adrian Gonzalez and Yasiel Puig are hitting, and the Dodgers are winning.
Gonzalez and Puig each hit RBI singles in the first inning and reached base twice against Colorado in the Dodgers’ 6-1 victory, their third in a row and fifth in six games.
Los Angeles has won its past eight games in Los Angeles.
Since returning to action June 21 from the disabled list, Puig is 13 for 36 with two walks, two hit-by-pitches (one tonight), two extra-base hits and five strikeouts, for a .425 on-base percentage and .472 slugging percentage.
Since returning to the starting lineup June 28 after two days as a reserve to recalibrate himself, Gonzalez is 8 for 15 with three walks, one hit-by-pitch, two extra-base hits, a sacrifice fly (in tonight’s seventh inning) and one strikeout, for a .600 OBP and .733 slugging percentage.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers’ two hottest hitters of June, Corey Seager and Justin Turner, have motored into July, each reaching base in multiples for the second straight night and scoring the Dodgers’ first two runs.
Combine that with Trayce Thompson’s two-run double in the third inning and Scott Kazmir’s 10 strikeouts in six shutout innings, and you’ve got the Dodgers moving to 46-37, the same record they had after 83 games last year. Their record is currently seventh-best in the Major Leagues.

Have to admit Jon, they are playing much better than I thought they would up to this point.

I missed the game except for part of the Dodgers’ eight and the top of ninth inning. Good to cut into some of the Giants’ lead.
