As I said in the last thread.  The Dodgers finally get someone exciting to watch play ball ( Dee Gordon) and Mattingly decides to rest him 7 games into the season.  What a genius.

Yes, but a young guy should get a break when he is struggling whereas a veteran might be let to play through a struggle.  The brain likes to take a break to process things or it will tend to hard wire what we don’t want to hard wire.

So after 7 games, Dee is in such a slump that he needs a break??  Also, his brain is the problem?  Sorry, can’t give Donnie a break on this one. I think it is all about playing Sellers and Gwynn.

        • Sorry, but I trust Don Mattingly’s judgment on this one more than yours (no offense) or amy of us. He’s right, he was hitting fly balls all game yesterday, which is not a good sign for Dee. He’s young but also small and if gets one game off out of what will probably be 14 I’m not sure I can carp about that too much.

I guess I am the only one who believes that when things are going good you don’t make changes.  I would say that a 6-1 start is things are going good. I just hate to waste games.

So, read up on how the brain best learns.

It’s a long season and shortstop is a demanding position.  If we lose him like Furcal every year, then we’re in real trouble.

So, once again, us Dodger fans are going to have to lament Frank McCourt while the team is playing (weather permitting) some pretty fun ball.

Pretty telling when the Judge says: “I had no idea. I thought this was going to be a celebration type deal.”

  4. “Lauria isn’t saying MLB is trying to stop sale, just that it needs to review further documents and revisions.”

At worst, it seems like a hurdle, not a roadblock. But what do I know?

saw this posted earlier: “I’m missing Kuroda already.
Chris Capuano looks like he will be good for no more than 6 innings.”
Kuroda averaged less than 1/6 of an inning per start better than Capuano did in 2011. Over the course of a season this is 5 extra innings to be thrown by the bull-pen. Billingsley averaged fewer innings per start than Capuano in 2011 btw. Capuano went past the 6th inning 9 times in 31 starts plus exactly 6 innings in 10 of the 31; leaving 12 times when he failed to finish the 6th.
I missed Kuroda long before “already” although I hope the Yankees lose every game he starts while he pitches well. Rivera blowing the save will be extra delightful.

I don’t have a problem with sitting Dee on a night ripe for a hamstring pull. It also gives us a look at an offense with someone else leading off. Cross our fingers. Probably Harang would be the only guy upset.

  7. That rainbow could be symbolic, Jon — given Judge Gross’s ruling on the Dodgers’ bankruptcy. After all the blustering by MLB today, sale’s on track for April 30 after all. Woo hoo!

Rain is letting up here in SD and by the pregame show it looks good in LA (blue skies)…I sure hope they let me watch the LA feed…Is Vinny broadcasting

I think it’s a smart decision to sit Gordon.  He’s been scuffling a bit, Clayton Richard is a tough lefty/lefty matchup, and as Artieboy above mentioned, it’s a cold night and you do have to worry about hamstrings in this type of weather, especially early in the year.  I have no problem with it.  Plus we need to get our other young middle infielder Sellers some reps.

That’s a fine rainbow. I’m so happy to have baseball again.

  11. Vin due back Sat or Sun – I predict the latter

  12. KT

stuck with the san diego feed…I don’t mind Enberg but I’m not sure of the other guy whoever he is

  13. Is the rainbow upside down for anyone? It’s right-side up on my computer but upside down on my iPhone.

  14. KT

    Nice double K

  15. Awesome pitching by Harang after the leadoff single.

    • According to Steiner, the game was officially “under way” when Maybin singled. :)

  16. KT

announcer says strike 5 when only 4 pitches had been thrown..what a maroon

I’m sorry, but here on the east coast, it is near 10:30, and a team without Gordon may be slightly better, but it is much more boring. Also I can’t figure why this Richards always means the Dodgers will be unpotent. So good night!

How much longer must we endure Steiner?

    • You’ll probably get a one day break from him on Sunday, and that’s it for awhile, alas.

  19. KT

wow 6 k’s to start the game…nice Aaron

  27. Harang ties Johnny Podres (1962) for the Dodger record with 8 straight strikeouts.

At this point, I appreciate some people who keep track here and are such good fans and DTers, like KT, I admit that I have been checking in my half asleep–and I can’t believe Harang and the possibilities!

  36. T.M. Brown

Steve, everyone knows what the wheel play is.

    AJ been watching Dee!

  41. Anonymous

    Strange game

  42. Anonymous

Eyes please, how did AJ get home on the infield single

    • KT

two out running on the play …kept rounding third on a slow roller up the middle that O-dog had to field and had a weak throw….the 1st baseman looked at the ump after a close play with mark ellis at 1st and hesitated with the throw home

And I’d still rather have Hudson than whoever we have at second. ( I have no idea)
