They should make this a “more important” award, and have the writers vote for this. Basically make it the best hitter of the year award thus removing the debate of giving the MVP to a player who’s team isn’t a playoff team (or really not too much of a contender), like Harper this year. Then you give the MVP to a player who truly was the most “valuable” to his team being a contender. If it’s the same player, so be it. This also could help pitchers win the MVP more often.
