Taking the road less traveled, Yasmani Grandal enjoyed a diversion from his homer heroics of late.
Grandal hit his third career triple, driving in two runs to sever a 2-2 tie in the fifth inning and push the Dodgers to a 4-2 victory at Colorado.
In his past 32 games, Grandal has a .393 on-base percentage and .654 slugging percentage — including 11 home runs.
It’s been a week at the races for Grandal, who stole his first base as a Dodger on July 29.
Dodger catchers w/3B and SB in same year since 2000:
P. Lo Duca (2002, 2004)
R. Martin (2006, 2007)
M. Treanor (2012)

Corey Seager tied the Los Angeles Dodger record for homers by a shortstop by hitting his 19th (449 feet) to tie the game, minutes before Justin Turner doubled and Adrian Gonzalez beat out an infield single. Grandal then launched his first triple as a Dodger to deep right center.
Grandal nearly had three bases on one play in the second inning as well, but after his second-inning single, he was forced to stay at third base after Joc Pederson’s double down the right-field line was touched by a fan.
No matter, as it turned out. Aside from David Dahl’s two-run homer in the fourth off Kenta Maeda, the Rockies were held scoreless. Maeda, who struck out five and walked none in 5 2/3 innings tonight, hasn’t allowed the Rockies any other runs in his three starts against them.
Pedro Baez, Joe Blanton and Kenley Jansen finished on the mound for the Dodgers, who remained two games behind San Francisco in the National League West and moved three games ahead of Miami and St. Louis in position for the first wild card.

It looks good to see the Dodgers sitting pretty in the wild card standings just in case they fail to catch the Giants.

Any word on why Puig hasn’t appeared in a AAA game yet?
