Winning after Chris Capu-oh-no.
Winning after Shaky Marmolade.
Winning after this.
Winning.
Despite being down five runs in the seventh inning, the Dodgers roundhoused Toronto, 10-9. Los Angeles is 22-5 since June 22 – WWWWWWLWWWWLWLWWWWWLWLWWWWW – and 5-0 after the All-Star break for the first time since 2004.
With 33 runs in their past three games, the Dodgers have their longest streak of scoring at least nine runs in a game since 2006. The franchise record (since 1916) is four games in a row.

I remember thinking in those dark early months of this season how other teams must be salivating when thinking about playing the Dodgers. Now they are fearing the same — or at least not as eager!
Anonymous
Now, instead of salivating, they are soiling themselves.

Those are definitely the kinds of games they would’ve lost a month or two ago. Mediocre starting pitching performance followed by one crappy relief job (and Jansen was shaky too) but they came back and they won. This is quite a magic carpet ride we’re on. I don’t wanna get off, Aladdin!
Anonymous
Just got home and all I can say is, WOW! When I left, we were down by four.
Anonymous
Since we on after that, no video replays, OK? (We all want the correct call, but at what cost to the game?)
Anonymous
Even Mattingly didn’t see how the call was wrong, so I can’t imagine that replay would have been invoked on that play.
Anonymous
Well, it evoked it for me!
Anonymous
Even if they had used replay, they might not have overturned it. Arencibia never really lost control of the ball. He had it trapped between his arm and chest when the out was recorded. David Tyree says that’s an unorthodox, but legal play. Plus he made a football move after catching the ball.
Anonymous
Ok, I’ll get of my soapbox now. As regards this play, he didn’t catch the ball with his chest or his arm, but with his mitt, so at some point it left his mitt, no? Yes, in football I would have given him a catch and a first down.
Anonymous
It did leave his mitt, but if he had control of it, no matter where, it’s still an out. Unless Ethier got in there before he controlled the ball.
Anonymous
I’ll agree to disagree, but to me, if it left his mitt, he didn’t have control of it.
KT
my take is he momentarily had it but lost it right away and then regained control after Ethier touched the plate
Anonymous
I thought Mattingly should have asked the plate umpire (who couldn’t see what Arencibia was doing) to ask for help.

Kemp agrees with me that Braun should lose his MVP.

For better or worse, Braun should be the one to make that call.

What does this really say Schu: LF; CC: dh? Isn’t Crawdad one of your best 3 outfielders?
KT
maybe for speed to get to the ball but arm is almost as bad as JP
Anonymous
He is also a bit of an uncertain fielder in my mind, though with his speed he is capable of making the occasional spectacular catch.
Anonymous
I’m far from a fielding expert, but Crawford in left field makes me feel like the Dodgers have a better-hitting Juan Pierre out there.
Anonymous
At baseball-reference Pierre is a +4 in Rfield while Crawford is -3.
Anonymous
I’m suspicious of anything that regards Juan Pierre as a plus.
Anonymous
the figures are for 2013; Pierre was -3, +1, -4 in his 3 years as a Dodger. Crawford was +8 in 2010, +15 in 2004
Anonymous
The Rtot I see for 2013 are 6 for Crawford and 2 for JP, but in leftfield. Am I reading it wrong?
Anonymous
are you at baseball-reference.com?

I see you use Rdsr. Thanks.

My main concern is that Schu must be better as an infielder or an outfielder. Maybe he is just mediocre at both.

Hard to see how a complete noodle arm that people ran wild on could be + anything.
Anonymous
I think the primary motive is to give CC a partial rest with improved throwing a relatively minor +.

Yeah, it should be someone else’s turn tomorrow to DH.

Drat!

If Kemp had been placed on the DL Monday night or Tuesday morning, yes; Wednesday 1 hour before game time-minor annoyance awaiting further medical news since I expected a DL for Kemp if he couldn’t play on Thursday.
