What happens when three old friends in crisis fall into an unexpected love triangle? In The Catch, Maya, Henry and Daniel embark upon an emotional journey that forces them to confront unresolved pain, present-day traumas and powerful desires, leading them to question the very meaning of love and fulfillment. The Catch tells a tale of ordinary people seeking the extraordinary – or, if that’s asking too much, some damn peace of mind.

Keep em coming, Jon. I’m wide awake suddenly.

Me too. Except it is 20 to 2 in the morning here.

20 to 3 here
While I had given up by the 7th, I did last ’til the happy end and said maybe even after Crawford’s pop-up to end the 8th
Looking at the box-score, I see this is Rodney’s 7th! BS plus his second in a row as he came in with one out in the bottom of the 8th at Arizona on Wednesday with men on first and third leading by one. He gave up a walk then a 2-run single.

Perhaps the Rays would be interested in a proven ML closer who is showing signs of returning to form (ahem..?). Could be had, very reasonable.
See Marmol, Carlos. We’d for sure take just a great 3B prospect, if the Rays can round one up. A 3-way trade would be just fine, if they can’t deliver themselves.

Marmol, straight up for Longo? I’d do it!

Loved what Vin (which I did not hear when he said it perhaps because I was yelling). The idea was think about Arizona they beat the Mets on a walk-off HR and thought they would gain a game on the Dodgers.

I loved his description of the Dodgers as “hiding in the weeds” through most of the game, until…

Silver Lining to this incredible run . . . hopefully Vinny realizes what fun this group can be in years to come and re-ups!

Wow. What a finish. I couldn’t be home to watch this but as I was out and about I saw the game up on tv screens. First I saw 3-0, then 6-0, then 6-1, 6-2, 6-3. I glanced at another screen where SportsCenter was playing and the headline on the side said, “Rays Rip Dodgers.” Then all of a sudden at my last destination I caught the 9th inning, and what an inning! I couldn’t help but think, man ESPN really jumped the gun with that title, they must not have been watching these Dodgers lately.

Harry Truman would appreciate that!

As an Eastcoaster bagged it in the 6th (well bagged it and threw it in the trashcan). Woke up this morning brought up DT and my first thought was that this was some elaborate, Wellesian hoax dreamed up by Weisman. “He threw it away”, indeed!

Old starting pitcher friends: Hiroki Kuroda ERA 2.00 last 10 starts. Aaron Harang, not quite so well.
Hard to doubt this is Kuroda’s best season. Stats and performance-wise, where does he rank among Japanese pitchers who made the majors? Near the top and gaining, I’d think.

Not one of Ned’s finer moments.
foul tip
No, but I don’t rag on Ned too much for this. We can’t know exactly how badly McTort handicapped him financially, but I got the impression management was pleased Ned got both Cappy and Harang for what Hiroki would have commanded. There was at least one dodgers.com story saying about as much.
If he’d been able to sign Hiroki, there still would have been rotation holes and likely little money to fill them. Had to pay for those mansions, you know…
No question Hiroki wanted to come back. Finally said he couldn’t wait forever for an offer. Exactly.
This is a way unlikely scenario because it appears the Dodgers will be flush with starters for next year, but a storybook ending would be for him to return on another of his one-year deals and help lead the team to a second straight WS crown, then go out on top.
I don’t ask all that much, do I?
Bob_Hendley
I think you are being far too generous to Ned on this one. He had a number two at below market in the palm of his hand. McCourt wasn’t micromanaging, Ned had his budget and spent it poorly. I am going to be ungenerous here and say that he was trying to be smarter than your average bear and was cool toward Kuroda because he refused to go to the Bosox.
foul tip
Maybe. I recall stories about that time that implied Ned was hamstrung financially by McTort, even though Ned put a different spin on it publicly.
We’ll never really know. Fortunately those days are past.

Slightly off topic, but seven days after starting a sports radio talk show in St. Louis, Jack Clark got fired after his Albert Pujols statements.

Turned the game off after the 7th – missed the comeback – bring the paper in from the driveway – pull out the Sports section and see “Dodgers rally in the ninth” in bold at the top. Wow – what a great start to the day!

Before the game last night, I was questioning the order of the lineup, agreeing with mike_tink that Punto, MEllis, Puig, Gonzo made more sense than MEllis, Punto, Gonzo, Puig.
Results of Donnie’s choice :
MEllis : 3 for 4 with a walk, RBI, and 2 runs scored batting leadoff
Punto : 2 for 5 with a RBI and run scored in the 2-hole
Gonzo : Hits the game-tying double in the 9th, scores winning run in 3-hole
Puig : 2 for 4 with a walk, RBI, and run scored batting cleanup
Donnie and the Dodgers just keep on keepin’ on.
