What happens when three old friends in crisis fall into an unexpected love triangle? In The Catch, Maya, Henry and Daniel embark upon an emotional journey that forces them to confront unresolved pain, present-day traumas and powerful desires, leading them to question the very meaning of love and fulfillment. The Catch tells a tale of ordinary people seeking the extraordinary – or, if that’s asking too much, some damn peace of mind.

“Hanley’s the best – around! Even a broken rib can’t hold him down.”
Jon Weisman
On Sunday, Tigers became first playoff team ever to have six pitchers each allow exactly one run in a game. http://bbref.com/pi/shareit/lbU1C
dalegribel
If done correctly, there is no defense
Jon Weisman
Just realized that the last World Series game won by the Dodgers with both me and the team actually in Los Angeles was October 11, 1978. I was in the Bay Area in 1988 and traveling with my family in New York when they won three home games in 1981.
Linkmeister
Kubek’s ground ball to the throat. Vince Coleman’s tarp. I’m trying to think of other postseason injuries.
Adam Luther
Ron Cey’s head.
WBBsAs
I like two-pitch outs.
Jeffrey Thomas III
The comments are alive!
John_from_Aus
..with the sound of music
John_from_Aus
lets score early today to ease some nerves
Adam Luther
First break to go our way.
peter drysdale
Nice defense :-)
John_from_Aus
How did he look during his 1 pitch at bat then running to first?
Linkmeister
If you mean Hanley, I was surprised he didn’t make it to 2nd, so I’m sure it’s hurting him badly.
John_from_Aus
thanks
Jeffrey Thomas III
Well it was a bloop fly ball that should have been caught so I think he was jogging all the way.
Jeffrey Thomas III
Ryu looks good so far, pitch count a bit high though.
foul tip
So how many kazillion Korean media here?
peter drysdale
Uh oh. Hope Andre is OK.
foul tip
Question: during the LDS I’m pretty sure I saw Beckett on the bench near Kershaw. That’s probably a good thing…maybe some Kershaw could rub off through osmosis…or something.
But the question is if Billingsley is around? There was buzz a while back about him playing catch and being encouraged, so probably no physical reason why not. You’d think he’d want to be there.
Jack Dawkins
That 3-2 pitch is the same one he struck out on in game 2. This time he managed to foul it off.
Jeffrey Thomas III
Puig not getting any breaks.
Jack Dawkins
even Ron Darling said it was below the knees.
Jeffrey Thomas III
And that’s saying something!
Keith Pluymers
That looked about shin high.
peter drysdale
Puig having enough trouble as it is without that being called a strike.
NoahUCLA
What’s the record for the most strikeouts by a hitter in a row in the nlcs? Puig must be close.
Jack Dawkins
First trip through batting order, Puig and AJ responsible for 15 of Wainwrights 34 pitches.
WinnipegDave
Pitch counts the same for Ryu and Wainwright.
Jeffrey Thomas III
He’s gotten it under control. Looking good. Now runs please!!
foul tip
Worth repeating, that..
WinnipegDave
Pitch counts the same for Ryu and Wainwright.
Jon Weisman
Beautifully done, Adrian
NoahUCLA
Is this the same ryu I saw at DS last week? He looks great. What does a guy have to do to get a run around here?
foul tip
TBS guys said no team has ever had as low a BA as the Cards did first 2 games and won both.
ASW1
Made possible by Dodgers going 1 for 16 W/RISP.
ASW1
OK, here we go!
Bob_Hendley
Card mistake!
Jeffrey Thomas III
Oh John Jay, you are being too good to us tonight. Cash in on the mistake!
Adam Luther
Second break of the game…
peter drysdale
Keep hitting it to the outfield, maybe they’ll keep letting them drop.
Jon Weisman
Your NLCS slugging percentage leader: Mark Ellis.
Adam Luther
Wow
Keith Pluymers
The Stare
Jon Weisman
C’mon, a little bingo here …
Adam Luther
Sacfly
Jeffrey Thomas III
AGon!
Jon Weisman
Clapclapclapclapclapclapclapclapclapclap
Adam Luther
YES
Bob_Hendley
Bingo!
Jeffrey Thomas III
Does Ellis still lead in slugging?
peter drysdale
About freakin’ time.
Adam Luther
He’ll bust out of it right here
Adam Luther
Doubled off wainwright in reg season
Jeffrey Thomas III
Puig!!!!
Adam Luther
BAM!!
Bob_Hendley
Puig!!!!
Jon Weisman
Whoooooooooooo!
Keith Pluymers
That is the way to get your first hit of the series!
peter drysdale
Thought it was gone. That’s more like it.
Jeffrey Thomas III
The wild horse can stand and admire, batflip, and still get to third.
Bumsrap
No misplay in RF, no crazy bounces off the fence, still trying to figure out how Puig got to third other than he was absolutely flying.
Bob_Hendley
Well, that was nice.
Jeffrey Thomas III
“Shutdown inning” alert on TBS.
WBBsAs
Steiner too.
Linkmeister
Enough with the shutdown inning nonsense.
4d3fect
I thought it was just me.
Linkmeister
It’s their hobbyhorse.
4d3fect
Freese gone. Don’t wish him ill, but just as well.
WBBsAs
Jay missed Don’s bunt sign.
Jeffrey Thomas III
Nice job pinch runner.
peter drysdale
Glad things are breaking right for the boys in blue finally.
foul tip
Luck is essential to success in any sport, to some degree. There are always a few plays that are the proverbial matter of inches.
Jeffrey Thomas III
HIt it to Jay! Hit it to Jay!
4d3fect
TWO triples!! Home field advantage baybee!!
Bob_Hendley
Sluggin’ ‘n runnin’
peter drysdale
Wooohoooo!! AJ!!
Jon Weisman
Keep it coming, guys.
Bumsrap
Its different when Jay misses a catch than when Ethier missed one. I feel just fine with the former.
Jon Weisman
Put the bat on the ball, Carl!
4d3fect
D’oh!
Bob_Hendley
Nasty pitch
Linkmeister
If I believed in omens, getting a leadoff triple and not scoring him would be a bad one.
Jon Weisman
It wasn’t for the Cardinals in Game 2.
Bumsrap
I am not picking up any such bad vibes. All is good other than Ellis still trying to catch his breath.
WBBsAs
I’m glad Don didn’t call for a squeeze, which would have been risky.
foul tip
Has he ever?
WBBsAs
I think Bob Timmerman documented one, but it seems to be the only bunt Don doesn’t like.
Jon Weisman
A.J. and Mark Ellis are 7 for 22 with two doubles and two triples in the NLCS: .318/.318/.591
Bob_Hendley
Ellare
4d3fect
Two isn’t enough. To paraphrase Tom Lehrer, “more, more, I’m still not satisfied”
ASW1
It might have to be.
Resistor
Kind of worried about the lineup turning over in the 9th for the bad guys.
Bumsrap
How does the cameraman know when a player is about to spit?
ASW1
Years of experience.
4d3fect
Or pick his ..oh, never mind.
Linkmeister
Or scratch “the groin area.”
Guest
Or scratch.
Bumsrap
Yes, Yes, I feel great, I can get him, yes, I said yes didn’t I, yes, I can get him.
foul tip
And then he did, with a K.
Jeffrey Thomas III
Wonderful start from Ryu!
Keith Pluymers
Seems he’s got the nerves balanced just right today
Linkmeister
Our fellow DTers in attendance are probably on the edges of their seats.
ASW1
Was thinking the same thing earlier.
Jon Weisman
Ryu lowers his postseason ERA from 12.00 to 3.60.
Bumsrap
And Puig jumps from 0 to 0.96 in this series.
Bumsrap
Then to .153
Spence
I think you have to go with Greinke tomorrow with a chance to tie up the series.
ASW1
Puig’s got his eye and confidence back.
peter drysdale
Good to see Puig is back. Unfortunately that double play sucked.
Linkmeister
Blast it. I’d have liked a couple more runs, and that DP hurts.
4d3fect
The Beard is warming up? *cringes*
Linkmeister
He’s been pretty good.
4d3fect
Stats are good, I’ve just been reading Le Carre lately, moles, double agents and all.
WBBsAs
Personally, I don’t trust him.
Jon Weisman
Ryu is first Dodgers lefty w/ at least 7 shutout innings in playoff game since Jerry Reuss, 1981 http://t.co/XwZJTH6CzP
Bumsrap
Why is Ethier still playing?
WBBsAs
Makes up for the call on Puig.
Bob_Hendley
‘cept that one was a strike.
WBBsAs
Puig’s was closer, I think.
Bumsrap
Good night Wainright
Jeffrey Thomas III
You meant, goodnight, right?
Bumsrap
Write
Keith Pluymers
Weirdo Beardo! I love Vin’s call. “Sets up high in the beard…Strikes him out!”
WinnipegDave
I would take another run here. Just for my nerves.
Bumsrap
Crawford needs some running advice from Puig
Jeffrey Thomas III
If Crawford had been at second…
Bob_Hendley
Bad omen, if you believe in that sort of stuff.
Jeffrey Thomas III
Or not!
WinnipegDave
Two bad Crawford hadn’t been on second already… but I will take whatever the Dodgers will give me here.
Bumsrap
Yikes
Bumsrap
Interesting Crawford conservatively stays at first and aggressively is told to go home on two similar opportunities.
WinnipegDave
Wow!!
WinnipegDave
HanRam with the powerful RBI!
Bumsrap
His rib hurts
Bob_Hendley
ribbie
Linkmeister
Mmmm, ribeye.
4d3fect
Tough call, but safe.
Keith Pluymers
The edge of the edge of his cleat beat that one out
peter drysdale
I thought he was out. Good call by the ump there. Could’ve gone either way.
Bob_Hendley
Yadier not used to having to actually tag the runner.
WBBsAs
That was unbelievably close, but the right call.
John_from_Aus
I feel much better with that 3rd run
WinnipegDave
Good swings here Andre.
4d3fect
Put it away Dre!
Spence
Dodgers have outhit Cardinals 23-13 in this series.
WinnipegDave
Let’s play you are the manager. Who’s your starting pitcher for the Dodgers tomorrow?
Spence
Greinke
Bumsrap
Nalasco
Resistor
Nolasco. Bet on the come, Aces to close it out if Nolasco comes through
Bob_Hendley
A non-ace is gunna have to win at least one of them, so Ricky at home.
WinnipegDave
I like that line of reasoning.
Adam Luther
…on a short leash.
Resistor
Bullpen rested, we got your back Rickie
Spence
I’d rather go Greinke/Kershaw/Ryu/Greinke for the final 4 games.
Jeffrey Thomas III
That’s a lot to ask of Greinke. Give Ricky a shot and hope we come out on top.
ASW1
Well, let’s see – so far Greinke, Kershaw, and Wainwright have lost their starts.
I say Nolasco, hands down.
WinnipegDave
Ha ha – nice!
Spence
Choate’s been great this series
Adam Luther
Two more.
Jeffrey Thomas III
All of a sudden the ump tightened up his strike zone.
75Dodger
Hi Jon! Its been a long time since I’ve commented, but I’ve been reading all your posts (and Bob Timmermann’s posts as well). I was really happy when you starting writing more frequently in your blog. Thank goodness for MLB audio! I’m listening to the game in Chiapas (no TBS available in my hotel) and reading the game thread. Way to go Dodgers!
Jeffrey Thomas III
A Win! Woo!
Linkmeister
Halle-bloody-lujah!
WinnipegDave
Back in the series.
peter drysdale
Hallelujah! That’s much more like it.
Jon Weisman
